Hello,

I just got done watching a video on youtube called "10 comic book characters that were inspired by real people" (or something similar), and Darkseid was on it, and his name was pronounced differently then I'm used to.

I have a question: Is Darkseid's name pronounced "Dark-side" or "Dark-seed" officially?

Thanks Mrwayne77 (talk) 23:06, April 8, 2015 (UTC)

The traditional pronunciation is "Dark-Side", at least in official materials like video games. Fans have their own way of saying names, but from my understanding, it's Dark-side. TheD3xus (talk) 23:08, April 8, 2015 (UTC)
Thank You!

I think I've seen a YouTuber pronounce it seed to (IIRC it was EmergencyAwesome)' but yeah, games, movies and tv series consistently use side. Also, there's the Dark Side Club, which would've been the Dark Seed Club otherwise.--Tupka217 00:13, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Pagename consistency[]

I get "Uxas" is his real name in the main continuities, but not in all of them. So some have that, and others have Darkseid. Having consistency is probably better, and "Darkseid" is a better SEO name. A random reader will not know what "Uxas" is. The same could be applied to other New Gods, like "Solis" and "Izaya". --Tupka217 18:51, September 11, 2020 (UTC)

If it's only about using Darkseid on the disambiguation page, no problem. But let's not start changing his article titles to Darkseid if he's known to be Uxas. It makes it worthless to use real name in article titles in most cases then. MatteJohnny (talk) 19:06, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
Nope. All page names. Way better SEO and UX. It's not like he walks into a phonebooth and turns from mild mannered Uxas to Darkseid. It was his birth name, and he took a new name later. Not sure if it was regnal name or if he used it before his ascension to the throne.--Tupka217 19:23, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
Then I agree. If he has discarded his old name, then I don't see a problem. Using birth names when one doesn't use it anymore as a real name makes no sense. MatteJohnny (talk) 19:33, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
I don't know about Lightray or Highfather. Hightfathr's page even says "Highfather is a title..." and lists three successors. As for Darkseid; however, the name is often depicted as his real name rather than as a title. Plus, I can't argue when Tupka brings up SEO and UX.--MysteryScooby (talk) 15:05, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
Agreed with MysteryScooby on that point. --- Haroldrocks talk 22:19, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
I agree too. A person's title shouldn't be used in place of real names for article titles. MatteJohnny (talk) 23:15, September 11, 2020 (UTC)
I'll drop Highfather, then. --Tupka217 00:01, September 12, 2020 (UTC)
